Promark P70 VR Drone Review

The Promark P70 VR drone is a mid-range drone VR that comes with most of the basic features you would expect from a model in this price range. But it also comes with some nice extras that make this a well-rounded drone that’s easy to fly, control, and land.

Beginner-Friendly

The manufacturer actually markets this model as easy to fly, thanks to the innovative auto takeoff and landing feature. This feature can give new pilots confidence as they learn more about the available features and get a feel for how this drone handles turns, and how to fly it in certain weather conditions.

Virtual Reality Drone Piloting

The included virtual reality goggles are a huge selling point for this Promark model. The headset itself is fairly comfortable to wear and highly adjustable so it can accommodate users of all sizes. However, quality wise, the goggles are more comparable to the Google Cardboard VR headset and don’t come anywhere near the quality of mid-range headsets such as the Google Daydream VR headset. The headset can be used to play virtual reality games or to watch movies in addition to flying the drone. Since this is a drone designed for beginners, we don’t recommend trying out the headset until you’ve mastered basic flying techniques.

Switching to the 3D mode for a totally immersive flying experience is easy, just head to the app and switch it to 3D mode for instant action inside the headset.

Best Features

Measuring in at nineteen inches long, this is a relatively big drone for the price. Pilots can choose to install a protective blade guard which will further increase the drone’s durability and minimize damage in the event of a crash. It’s also a nice safety feature to have if you’re planning on buying this drone for a child.

The installed 720p camera is located on the bottom of the drone and it takes moderately good footage.

Other cool features include auto hovering, headless model and one-button 360-degree flips. These features can make even the beginner feel like a seasoned pilot as they stunt with their new drone.

With the included camera, users can take photos and video footage from up high and enjoy their surroundings like never before.

The drone is also equipped with a built-in Wi-fi signal, so users can photograph, record footage, and stream directly to their smartphone with the use of the virtual reality aerial photography app by Promark. The built-in Wi-Fi works by using a digital Wi-Fi link in order to connect to the circuit board inside the drone. Once synced up, you’ll be able to see exactly what your drone is seeing

Package Details

This is a great starter package and one that comes with plenty of free extras including a lithium-ion battery pack, remote control, 3D goggles, mini screwdriver and extra screws, spare landing gear, and spare blades.

The included controller is pretty standard, featuring a couple of buttons used to adjust the degree of controls and two joysticks. A small mount is located on the controller, so you can easily secure your smartphone when you’re using the VR mode.

This is a drone that has a reputation for durability. Often, higher-end drones are very delicate. One crash can mean a total drone replacement is needed. But not with the P70. The solid design and large blades combined with the blade guard make it difficult to take this drone out of commission. Another big plus is how easy to find the Promark drone parts are. You can purchase them from a number of online retailers that sell parts, or you can order straight from the manufacturer. Drone hobbyists often have a hard time tracking down spare parts for their planes, so the fact that these parts are so readily available is a nice bonus for drone pilots who enjoy upgrading or working on their drones.

Drone enthusiasts searching for a more compact, highly portable model might prefer the DJI Spark Portable Mini Drone Quadcopter, which also comes equipped with some great features. While it’s a little on the pricey side it offers a little more power and speed than this Promark drone.

Pros

  • The drone has a transmission range of four hundred and ninety feet, which can be limiting for some pilots, but it’s a decent range for beginners.
  • The Promark VR battery drone can charge up in as little as two hours.
  • Flight time is around twenty minutes, which is better than average for a drone in this price range.
  • Well-built, this drone can withstand a minor crash like a champ.
  • A stable flying experience and a number of automatic modes and safety features to choose from make this model very user-friendly.
  • The built-in Wi-Fi link allows pilots to fly without an internet connection.

Cons

The intuitive controls and simple to use app makes this drone a better buy for children and not a serious drone pilot.

This model is not very fast, so it’s not a good choice for drone racing.

The camera quality is decent but does not take high res video footage or images.

Conclusion & Rating

Overall, the VR Promark drone is a great buy for a beginner or a child who’s interested in learning how to fly, but we wouldn’t recommend this model for advanced pilots.
The size and durability of this model make it a good choice if you’re new to flying and want a drone you can learn on. The simple controls, wide range of auto modes, and the easy to use app make flying a drone for the first time a cinch. For the price, this is a great little drone that’s very stable and incredibly easy to fly and maneuver. It may not come loaded with fancy features or an impressive transmission range, but what it does offer is a durable construction, automatic landing and takeoff features, and a solid performance that will give any new pilot some much-needed confidence as they learn how to navigate the skies. We gave this model a rating of four out of five stars.
